On a perpetual quest for the next great meal
Op-edible exists as the creative outlet of me - Julie Maibach Lacy - the source of all photos and content on this site. I reside in Berkeley, California and find inspiration in seasonal, sustainable and local foods at the peak of their season and the people who grow and prepare them. This site provides a vehicle for me to share some of my favorites with friends, family, visitors to the Bay Area, and fellow travelers. I am not a food critic. I only provide recommendations. Perhaps it's my salt of the earth Midwestern upbringing that instilled this guiding principle:
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
In 2018 I quit my job corporate job as an Employment Lawyer and Human Resources Executive to pursue my interest in food and wine. I now hold the following certifications:
Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 Award in Wines, with Merit (2018)
Certified Sherry Wine Specialist, awarded by The House of Lustau; approved by the Regulatory Council of Sherry Wines Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (2018)
